Admission criteria at Westbridge Academy

If more children apply than there are places, the 2026 admission rules offer places in this order:

  1. Looked-after children and previously looked-after children (adopted or under a child arrangements or special guardianship order), including those adopted from state care outside England.
  2. Children with a medical need (child or parent), confirmed by a GP or hospital consultant, that makes Westbridge the only suitable school. Social reasons are not considered.
  3. Children with a full, half, step, adopted or foster brother or sister at the Academy on the date of admission, living at the same home address.
  4. Children attending Westbridge Nursery who are eligible for Early Years Pupil Premium at the deadline. A Category 4 form must be sent in by the application deadline.
  5. Children of Trust staff who work mainly at Westbridge and have been employed there for at least two years, or were recruited to a vacant post with a demonstrable skill shortage.
  6. All other children, nearest first, by straight-line distance from home to the Academy's designated entrance, measured by the council's software. Ties settled by random lottery.

Our data doesn’t include separate rules for every year, so where a year’s rules are missing we use the nearest year’s.

Read the official rules: Westbridge Academy Determined Admission Policy 2027-2028. The school’s own published arrangements always take priority over our summary.

How far away do you need to live to get into Westbridge Academy?

In 2022 to 2026, everyone who applied was offered a place here or at a school they ranked higher. Cut-offs move each year with the number of applicants and siblings, so treat these as a guide to past years, not a promise.

Do siblings get priority at Westbridge Academy?

Yes. Under the 2026 admission rules, children with a brother or sister at the school come third in the order of priority, after looked-after and previously looked-after children and children with a medical or social need. Check the school’s admission arrangements for who counts as a sibling.

Has everyone who applied to Westbridge Academy been offered a place in past years?

Yes. In each of 2022 to 2026, everyone who applied to Westbridge Academy was offered a place here or at a school they ranked higher, so there was no distance cut-off. That could change if more families apply, so check the latest figures each year.
